Merry Christmas from Solda

The Advent candle-lit

You may notice the child against this book.

An Advent wreath with the candles

peace can flow into our hearts.

Of the year rush fades slowly

finally found peace and contemplation.

One day, he can hardly be better

as in Advent by candlelight.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and best wishes for the coming year 2012.

See you soon in SULDEN

The ABC's of snowshoeing

The ABC's of snowshoeing

But for sure!

Slide down snowy slopes on snowshoes, the glittering sun, feel the experience unspoiled nature? An intense experience that no Alpine conduct can be very dangerous quickly.

The days when snow covered mountain peaks in the winter ski touring were reserved, are over. Joins the long snowshoe hike at the front one of the most popular winter activities. This is not surprising, snowshoers experience the pure nature, far from crowded slopes and trails. Snowshoeing does not have to learn, requires no expensive special equipment and skiing must be able to do so. But be careful: Just because snowshoeing is so wonderfully simple, one's own body is often underestimated on the alpine and often dangerous. What should a snowshoers eighth before and during the tour?

Equipment:

Basically, it needs not only the usual "winter gear" or snowshoes, hiking or ski poles, good maps and maybe a GPS device. Anyone who even occasionally, in an avalanche hazard area goes, it must necessarily have the full avalanche gear with me: when switched on avalanche equipment (avalanche transceiver), shovel and probe, plus, if possible, first-aid kit, bivouac sack and a thermos of hot drink .

Education:

That as snowshoers need no education, is a common misconception. Even if you are not moves in an avalanche hazard area should be an introduction to avalanche, weather and treat customer orientation (Alpine Alpine clubs and schools offer courses). In winter, walkways and many unrecognizable markings are not visible. Especially with a change in the weather, one can lose their orientation. Here, the relevant knowledge to save lives.

Scheduling:

Snowshoeing is not the same as hiking. Anyone who thinks they can handle the same route in the winter on a day like in the summer trek, which is wrong. The average estimate for the walk in the summer is 300 meters and three kilometers per hour. With snowshoes you should calculate 200 meters and two kilometers per hour calculation. The time for the distance and those for the altitude can be calculated according to the said pattern. Is then extended to the shorter half-time added. Example: If the target of the snowshoe hike away about six kilometers and 400 meters to plan some four hours of walking (6 km = 3 h, 400 hm = 2 h, ie: 3 h + ½ x 2 h = 4 h).

Tour Planning:

Snowshoeing with no avalanche equipment is advisable only there, where the terrain is apparently not exposed to avalanches. Terrain below 20 degree slope is generally regarded as safe. Stronger demand inclinations security in interpreting avalanche warning levels. Note: The forest is not immune from avalanches. In an avalanche danger at level 3 you should prefer to forego a trip. If you do not want, should remain on that day to officially usable ways.
